OSS Event March 2011 (East Oxford)
8th March 2011 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
£1The sixth and final race of the series will take place around the streets of East Oxford, between The Plain and Iffley. It will be followed by a short prizegiving ceremony at which the trophies for this inaugural series will be awarded.
Event Centre
The event centre will be Oxford University’s Iffley Road sports centre. Parking is available, but note that it is accessed from Jackdaw Lane and not Iffley Road. Pedestrians and cyclists can access the site from either Jackdaw Lane or Iffley Road. We will be based in the cafe area.
Race Format
60 minute score (visit as many controls as you can and return within 60 minutes). Remember to bring a watch and a pen! Start times are between 7pm and 8pm, starting whenever you’re ready. See About Street-O for a more detailed description.
Terrain
Largely tarmac roads and paths with hills towards the south and east of the map. Please take particular care crossing Cowley, Iffley and Donnington Bridge Roads which can be busy and have a 30mph limit in places. Other roads have a 20mph limit and low traffic levels. Some of the paths in the southern part of the map are not lit very will so a head torch may be useful.
Social
If you can, please stay after you have run to discuss routes, mistakes, the weather or anything else that takes your fancy. The cafe should be open until at least 9pm for food. There will also be a prizegiving for the series as soon as everyone has finished and the results have been worked out.
