OSS Sep 2019(Iffley)

The first race of the 2019-2020 season will take place around the streets of Iffley. Please note that the event is on Thursday 3rd of October, a change from the usual Tuesday or Wednesday evening. The intended venue has moved location over the last few weeks, though the intended venue is currently the ‘Prince of Wales’ Iffley. Bill Child is planning and organising the event.

Event centre

The event centre will be the Prince of Wales pub in Iffley (73 Church Way, OX4 4EF). There is some parking available at the pub but not many spaces. If possible please come on foot, by bicycle or by public transport.

Race Format

60 minute score (visit as many controls as you can and return within 60 minutes). Remember to bring a watch and a pen! Start times are between 6.30pm and 8pm, starting whenever you’re ready. See About Street-O for a more detailed description. Don’t forget your head torch as some paths may be unlit.

Terrain

Largely tarmac roads and paths. The traffic can be busy in places so you must take care crossing all roads. Iffley Road/Henley Avenue will have significant traffic; great care should also be taken when crossing them.

Social

If you can, please stay after you have run to discuss routes, mistakes, the weather or anything else that takes your fancy. The pub does serves food, though if it is quiet the Kitchen stops cooking at 8:30pm. If it is busy then they will continue until 9:00pm, Menu. Or you are also more than welcome to get some nibbles like nuts etc. and obviously a post-run pint!
