OSS Feb 2020(Headington)

For the February event we return once again to the White Horse in headington. Only last seen in December two months ago. Similarly Neville Baker is planning the event around the streets of Headington. For those who came out last time and did well, can you retain your position. For the others who had a mediocre run, now is the chance to redeem yourself. According to Neville the area will be different but the technical challenge of which controls to go for will be the same.

Event centre

The event centre is the White Horse Headington at 1 London Road, Oxford, OX3 7SP.

We would encourage you to arrive on foot, by bicycle or by public transport if possible – there are many bus routes between the city centre and Headington which pass the pub door. There is a car park if you are coming from further afield, though.

Race Format

60 minute score (visit as many controls as you can and return within 60 minutes). Remember to bring a watch and a torch since it is now very dark! Start times are between 6.30pm and 8pm, starting whenever you’re ready. See About Street-O for a more detailed description.

Terrain

Tarmac roads and paths. Most roads have a 20mph limit and low traffic levels. London Road is busy but there are plenty of sensible crossing points – please take care. The area is mainly flat unless the area goes North West in which case Headington hill comes into play.

Social

If you can, please stay after you have run to discuss routes, mistakes, the weather or anything else that takes your fancy. The White Horse serves food until 22:00, so no need to be back early to place your order.
