OSS Event January 2013 (City Centre)

The first race of 2013 will be around the city centre and has been planned by Carol and Anne Edwards.

Event Centre

The event centre will be the University Club on Mansfield Road. Due to its central location it has no parking, though there is metered on-street parking on Mansfield Road and others nearby. Please come on foot, by bicycle or by public transport (including Park & Ride) if possible. We expect to be based immediately to the left of the entrance.

Race Format

60 minute score (visit as many controls as you can and return within 60 minutes). Remember to bring a watch and a pen! Start times are between 6.30pm and 8pm, starting whenever you’re ready. See About Street-O for a more detailed description.

Terrain

Largely tarmac roads and paths with no significant hills. Some of the centre is pedestrianised and most other roads have a 20mph limit. Nevertheless the traffic is busy in places and you must take care crossing all roads. A head torch may be useful as there are some unlit paths, particularly alongside the river and canal where you must take extra care.

Social

If you can, please stay after you have run to discuss routes, mistakes, the weather or anything else that takes your fancy. The University Club have been most welcoming and have allocated us space that does not conflict with the crowds expected to be watching football on TV. Please support them by ordering food (available from the bar but must be ordered by 8.30pm) or drinks which are available until 11pm.
