OSS April 2015 (Botley)

The final race of this season will be around the streets of Botley and is being planned by Blanka Collis. As usual, there will also be a series prizegiving once the final runner has finished – hopefully the winners will be able to come this year!

Event centre

The Event Centre will be at 21 Hazel Road, Botley, Oxford OX2 9LE. There is plenty of on-street parking available nearby. Many buses also run out from town to Botley, including routes 4/4A/4B, S1, X30 and U1).

Race Format

60 minute score (visit as many controls as you can and return within 60 minutes). There is a penalty of 10 points for every minute or part minute that you are late. Remember to bring a watch and a pen! A head torch may be useful in places if you start late. Start times are between 6.30pm and 8pm, starting whenever you’re ready. Terrain

Tarmac roads and paths with plenty of hills. The A34 can only be crossed at the subways and bridges marked as crossing points on the map. Take care when crossing the main road up Cumnor Hill – other roads are reasonably quiet.

Social

If you can, please stay after you have run to discuss routes, mistakes, the weather or anything else that takes your fancy. We will provide some sort of food to sustain you until the prizegiving.
