SUMMARY:OSS Event December 2011 (Sandford)
DESCRIPTION:We venture into new territory this month\, starting in Sandford and heading north around the streets of Littlemore and Rose Hill. Please note the seasonal bonus (see Race Format below) and come prepared! \nEvent Centre \nThe event will be based at Jon Marsden’s house in Sandford – 19 Janaway\, which is off Heyford Hill Lane. \nRace Format \n60 minute score (visit as many controls as you can and return within 60 minutes). Remember to bring a watch and a pen! Start times are between 6.30pm and 8pm\, starting whenever you’re ready. See About Street-O for a more detailed description. \nAs you might be aware\, Christmas is coming\, so for this event only there will be bonus points on offer for running in festive fancy dress\, ranging from 10 points for festive headgear to 50 points for a full Santa suit… all at Jon’s discretion\, so dress to impress! \nTerrain \nLargely tarmac roads and paths with a few gentle hills. A head torch will be useful for those who want to go further as some of the paths are unlit (including that alongside the Thames) but note that this is entirely optional and that the courses will _not_ cross the river to Kennington as was suggested last month. The ring road runs across the map – this is a busy dual carriageway and must only be crossed at the marked bridges and underpasses. You will run along and across many other minor roads though\, some of which will have significant traffic so you must cross carefully. \nSocial \nAs usual\, please stay after you have run to discuss routes\, mistakes\, the weather or anything else that takes your fancy. We will provide some pasta followed by mince pies and mulled wine; please bring along some of your own favourite Christmas treats and enjoy the evening! \n
