SUMMARY:OSS April 2016 (Botley)
DESCRIPTION:The final race of 2015-2016 Oxford Street-O Series will be held around Botley. With both the Womens and Mens champions still to be decided this is going to be an entertaining evening. The event has been planned by Roger Thetford with an emphasis on route choice. So remember to bring your brains for route analysis and lung capacity to take on the hills. \nEvent Centre \nThe event centre will be at Heather’s House\, 11 The Garth\, Botley\, OX2 9AL. There is some parking available on The Garth but usually we also spread ourselves over other side roads. If possible please come on foot\, by bicycle or by public transport. \nRace Format \n60 minute score (visit as many controls as you can and return within 60 minutes). Remember to bring a watch and a pen! Start times are between 6.30pm and 8pm\, starting whenever you’re ready. See About Street-O a more detailed description. Even though the nights are now much brighter\, if you start late dusk descends and it is harder to read the clues and find the answers. A head torch will be useful as some paths may be unlit. \nTerrain \nLargely tarmac roads and paths. There is possibly some park area with unlit paths\, and definitely some hill. The traffic can be busy in places so you must take care crossing all roads. All controls are located West of the A34 and South of the A420\, so there is no need to cross either dual carriageway. \nSocial & Food \nAs this is the final race of the season\, there will be calculations\, announcements and then prize giving for the various winners for the season. If you can\, please stay after you have run congratulate the winners\, commiserate with those who were close and to discuss routes\, mistakes\, the weather or anything else that takes your fancy. There will be food provided by Heather for a small donation. Please let Heather or myself know by email if you intend to partake so numbers and quantities can be estimated. \n
